Freeborn
Wadsworth

Phyllis Freeborn, a gentle and loving soul, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 11, 2016. She was born in Wadsworth May 9, 1928 to the late Glen and Mattie (Welty) Freeborn.

She graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1946. Her early employment career began with a military contractor position supporting the U.S. Marines in Washington DC and she retired from TRW in Lyndhurst, OH where she was a respected employee.

Throughout her life, Phyllis was always ready to help others with a cheerful grin. This lovely smile was her hallmark. She spent her final years at Liberty Residences, Magnolia Nursing Home and under the care of Hospice of The Western Reserve. In each of these instances, staff members were amazed by her smile and peaceful attitude. The family is appreciative of the wonderful care given to Phyllis during each of these placements.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Carlyle and his wife, Jane. She is survived by her niece Jacquelyn Herst and family. Phyllis’s loving presence at family gatherings will be missed by many Welty cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at First Christian Church, 116 East Boyer Street, Wadsworth, Ohio, with Pastor Jim Singleton officiating. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of The Western Reserve or First Christian Church.
