VERONICA ANN O’DONNELL (nee Tighe) age 87, of Wadsworth went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2015. She was born July 28, 1928, in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Frederick and Laura (nee Allen) Tighe.

Veronica (Roni) is preceded in death by her loving husband Leonard W. O’Donnell; sons Kevin and Bill O’Donnell; brothers Fred, Patrick, Bernard, and Lawrence Tighe. She is survived by daughter Patricia Elton (husband Steven). She was a devoted grandmother of Loretta Michalski (husband Paul), Veronica, Rebecca, and Andrew Elton and great-grandmother of Riley Michalski. She was a treasured sister of Carl (wife Sara) Tighe; and had many loving nieces and nephews.

Veronica was born and raised in Wadsworth, Ohio and graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1946. She had five brothers; Freddie, Pat, Bernie, Larry, and Carl who protected, spoiled, and most of all loved their only sister. She married Lenny in 1952 and moved to Gates Mills, Ohio to raise their three children; Kevin, Bill and Patty. She dearly loved her grandkids; Loretta& Paul, Veronica, Beckie, Andy, and great grand-daughter Riley. Throughout her years she worked at the Ohio Box Board, TRW, Leaseway Transportation, and RB&W. She specialized in Human Resources. From pool parties to holiday celebrations, Roni loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. Her family was very important to her and she was always on the go from Ohio to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Arizona; she was visiting and making memories with them. Her Catholic faith was instilled in her by her Mom and Dad and kept growing over her lifetime. Roni gave back to the Church by supporting many organizations, such as prayer shawl ministry, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Eucharistic minister, and was very generous to many missions and parish groups. She relied on her faith to get her through the pain of losing loved ones especially her husband Lenny in 1985, her sons Kevin in 1993 and Bill in 2014. Her good times as well as the tough times only brought her closer to God. She asked the Good Lord daily “please Lord, let me have my senses about me and my feet under me until my last day.” God honored this request from Veronica, which is a true testament of her faith.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 25th, 4 to 7 PM, Rosary Service at 7 PM, at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Layman Street in Wadsworth, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 26th 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Joseph Labak celebrant, 272 Broad Street in Wadsworth. Interment All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. Contributions may be made in Veronica’s memory to the American Heart Association.
