Doylestown -
Oscar Magyar, 93 of Doylestown, OH passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital after a 3 month illness.
Mr. Magyar was born on May 3, 1918 in Akron to Steve and Rosa (Kovach) Magyar. He married the former Helen Horvath on February 26, 1936.
Mr. Magyar worked in several coal fields in West Virginia for 12 years, being very instrumental in organizing the United Mine Workers. Moving to Wadsworth in 1946, he was employed at PCA in Rittman for 27 years, retiring in the 70's. He moved to Titusville, FL for several years, lived in Xenia, OH for six years and then moved to Doylestown, OH.
He enjoyed camping in the Virginia Mountains, was a farmer for years, traveled to many European countries and loved horse back riding. His grandchildren enjoyed the story telling of his youth and life experiences.
He was preceded in death by his parents, oldest daughter Frances Graham, sons-in-law Robert Graham and William Kinnard; sisters Olga Wiesen and Yolanda Arndt. He is survived by his wife Helen of 76 years, his son Oscar (Linda) Magyar of Wadsworth, daughters Helen Kinnard of Xenia, OH; Margie Magyar of Rittman; five grandchildren: Christine (Gary) Wheeler and Stephanie Kinnard of Xenia, OH, Jeff Graham of Stow, John (Kelly) Magyar of Rittman and Steve (Polly) Magyar of Wadsworth. There are also nine great-grandchildren: Celeste Wheeler of Athens, OH, Abigail, Joey, Sarah, Gracie, Skyler, Katelin, Lyla and Ethan Magyar all of Wadsworth and Rittman.
The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00PM Friday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
