Vaughan, Mary M

Mary Moffitt Vaughan
Mary Margaret Moffitt Vaughan, 89, of Wadsworth, died in the afternoon of August 10, 2010, at the Hospice of Medina County facility with loved ones at her side. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Dr. William T. Vaughan, who died in 1961; her mother Mary Frances Becker Moffitt; father James Patrick Moffitt; sisters Anne Kelliher and Helen Zink; brothers Frank Moffitt and Tom Moffitt; in-laws Francis Zink, Jack Kelliher, Joe Schmidt, Marion Moffitt, Kathy Moffitt; and nephews Pat Moffitt and Jim Moffitt.
Those who remain to celebrate her life are her siblings and their spouses Agnes Schmidt , Bill and Pat Moffitt , Jim and Vivian Moffitt; half-brothers Tim and Mike Moffitt; sister-in-law Peggy Moffitt; cousins Jean McGonigal Murphy and Pat McGonigal; forty-one nieces and nephews and their families; her "lunch bunch" and many, many dear friends.
Mary was born at home in Akron on May 15, 1921. She graduated from St. Joseph's grade school, 1935; Cuyahoga Falls High School, 1939; St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing, RN, 1943; University of Dayton, BS Ed, 1970. Her early high school years were spent at Villa Maria Academy in Villa Maria, PA.
Mary was a vivacious, caring Christian, who lived each day to the fullest and truly paid it forward. She was a servant leader, tirelessly contributing her talents and time to many causes over the years including the Akron St. Vincent's High School Band in the 1950's, and Habitat for Humanity and volunteer French teacher after her move to Wadsworth in 1970. But Mary's greatest passion was her work in establishing the Sacred Heart CCD special needs program. She was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church (Wadsworth) as a Eucharistic Minister and Faith & Light. She later joined the Prince of Peace Catholic Church community in Barberton.
The family wishes to thank the Hospice of Medina County for the tender care and respect she received from them.
Per Mary's request, please do not send flowers. Donations may be sent to The Sisters of the Humility of Mary, P.O. Box 534, Villa Maria, PA 16155 (www.humilityofmary.org)
