Margaret "Edith" Whitacre, 91, of Wadsworth passed away Monday, October 11, 2010. She was born February 25, 1919 in Doylestown, Ohio to the late Edward and Edith (nee Deneke) Schondel.
Edith enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning. She just loved being in the kitchen preparing food for family and friends. She baked cookies and delivered them to Aultcare Nursing Home where she was known as the "cookie lady". She also spent time gardening and fishing.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Whitacre, son and daughter-in-law James L. and Kay Whitacre, sister Virginia (Dolly) Morris, and brothers, Harold, Glenn, Richard, Dale and Charles Schondel.
Edith is survived by son Alvin (Donna) Whitacre and daughter Barbara Botsch, 13 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren and sisters Viola Stine, Elsie King and Mary Dobbins.
Family will receive friends Friday 11:30AM - 1:30PM at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home 174 North Lyman St. Wadsworth where services will be conducted at 1:30 PM with Pastor Demetri Mittas officiating. Internment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
