Ralph Schoonover, 87, of Norton died Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Born August 7, 1922 in Akron to the late Ralph and Orpha Schoonover.
Mr. Schoonover was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran and was retired from Goodyear Aerospace. He was a volunteer with the Wadsworth High School Drama Club, loved gardening, traveling, and camping. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren and following their various sports activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, with whom he celebrated 50 years.
Ralph is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Robert A. and Carolyn Schoonover of Wadsworth TWP., daughter and son-in-law Linda and George Gabor of Norton, son and daughter-in-law David R. and Robin Schoonover of Wellington, OH, daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and John Hunt of Rye, NY, and son and daughter-in-law Richard and Debra Schoonover of Wadsworth. There are 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, three brothers; Alpha Ray Schoonover, James Schoonover, both of Elmira, NY, and Hal Schoonover of Indianapolis, IN, and one sister Marie Freeman of Elmira, NY.
The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
