Robert Lee Simpson, 58, of Akron Ohio passed away peacefully and without pain on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Hospice of Summa at Akron City Hospital. He lived life to the fullest, and was always eager to give his time and friendship to others. He fondly recalled his work at Firestone Country Club as a caddy as a young man and his later involvement working at golf tournaments there throughout the years. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany from 1972 to 1974. Bob was a skilled carpenter and his craftsmanship can be found all over Northeastern Ohio. Survived by daughter Christine Cross, mother Helen Brink of Akron, Ohio and brother Ronald Simpson of Stow, Ohio. Predeceased by father Edward Leon Simpson, brother Bernard Simpson, and lifelong best friend Robert D. Pope. Inurnment will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 21, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please meet at the Welcome Center at 10:15 AM. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him well, but never forgotten as a man who was always nearby when he was truly needed. Rest in Peace.
