David Close Sprang, 84, of Wadsworth, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011. He was born on December 18, 1926 in Millersburg, OH to the late Homer and Eula Sprang. Mr. Sprang was WWII Army veteran, a member of First Christian Church, a member and past president of the Wadsworth Lions Club, he belonged to several Masonic bodies in Wadsworth, Akron and in Millersburg, was a member of Millersburg American Legion Post #192 and was retired from Commercial and Savings Bank in Millersburg. He volunteered with the Salvation Army, was very interested in World War II Memorabilia and aviation and was an avid listener of Jazz.
David is survived by his wife Rea Dot with whom he would have celebrated 38 years of marriage in June, 2011. Three daughters; Beccie (Rick) Lauer of Norton, Chellie Sprang of Medina, Cindy (Bill) Chesson of Steubenville, two sons Todd (Kathie) Power and Phillip (Jane) Power all of Wadsworth and one grandson Brian Power.
The Family will receive friends 1-3 PM Wednesday at First Christian Church, 116 E. Boyer St., Wadsworth, where a memorial service will be conducted at 3:00PM with Rev. James L. Singleton officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, Wadsworth Lions Club, Wadsworth Salvation Army or the charity of the donors choice.
