Dorothy (Gibbs Dennerll) Gombach entered into eternity on August 2, 2024. She was born July 15, 1931 to Everett H. Gibbs, Sr. and Katherine Pickett Gibbs, in Toronto, Canada, (where her family lived temporarily for her father’s employer). Dot grew up in Wadsworth, OH and graduated from Wadsworth High School. Her family vacationed every summer in Wells Beach, Maine, and she treasured a life-long love of her time there, visiting occasionally as an adult. Dot earned “Best Dressed” in her graduating class. Her love for fashion, creativity and art eventually drew her to Cleveland, where she attended the Institute of Art.
Dot married Norbert G. Dennerll, Jr., the father of her three daughters, in 1955. She enjoyed raising her children and sharing in their many activities, which included girl scouts, backyard fundraisers, and attending their sporting events. Later in life she married Robert A. Gombach, and enjoyed church activities, nursing home visits, and flea marketing. When widowed, she continued enjoying crafts, activities at the Wadsworth Senior Center, bus trips and tours with friends, country music outings, and time with her family.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce (Gibbs) King, her sister-in-law Bevery (DeLong) Gibbs, her second husband Robert A. Gombach, and her grandson Dustin.
Dot is survived by her brother, Everett H. Gibbs, Jr., her sister Marilyn Head (Norm), her first husband Norbert G. Dennerll, Jr., her children, Kathy (Dale) Kramer, Karen Davis, and Patty (Tom) Homish, her grandchildren Danielle, Patrick (Adrienne), Michael (Haleigh), Mathew (Felicia), Carli (Zachary), Brandon (Angela) and Brett, and her great-grandchildren Darryl, Dierra, Karsen, Hannah, Colin, Noah, Gavin, Kaden, Blakeley, Payton “PJ”, Skylar, and Demi, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will honor Dorothy’s life at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 North Lyman Street in Wadsworth, OH on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with the seated portion beginning at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 200 College St., in Wadsworth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wadsworth Senior Center in tribute to Dot’s love of senior activities and crafts.
